redemption-life

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me ; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Guarding Your Heart

Proverbs 27:19

As in water face reflects face,
So a man’s heart reveals the man.

As the scripture states we are what is is in our hearts, the mood that we allow ourselves to be in is what we offer our fellow man. We as Christians should walk in the spirit not in the flesh. Our hearts refers to our innner man or soul and our soul reflects our mood and what we allow to influence us.

Matthew 15:18-19

18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

When we allow the things of the world to overcome our hearts or souls, these are what we project.

Matthew 12:34

34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

What we fill ourselves with is what we speak and exude. If we fill our heart with the things of the world, we will project the world. If we fill our hearts with the truth, the word of God we will speak and project the truth, the love of Jesus.

Proverbs 4:20-26

20 My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
21 Do not let them depart from your eyes;
Keep them in the midst of your heart;
22 For they are life to those who find them,
And health to all their flesh.
23 Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life.
24 Put away from you a deceitful mouth,
And put perverse lips far from you.
25 Let your eyes look straight ahead,
And your eyelids look right before you.
26 Ponder the path of your feet,
And let all your ways be established.

Our hearts hold the things of life, not only our worldly life but that of our spiritual life. Our physical heart holds our blood and circulates our blood, our soul or inner man holds our spiritual life and our true being.

II Corinthians 4:16-18

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

We are not to lose heart or lose hope as our worldly body decays but to move forward continuously with the progression of the kingdom of God. We are to bear our problems as they are only for a while and we are destined to inherit the kingdom of God with Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:4-7

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The hope we have in our salvation through Jesus should along with the Word of God should guard our hearts against the things of the world and the wiles of the devil.
